As this is
my first post, I wanted to welcome you into my quaint home so you can get a
better sense of my life, style and personality. So wipe off your feet, and come
inside as I give you a brief glimpse into my crafty, cozy nest.
New and old
books line the mantle joined with my prized consignment store find: my golden
unicorn bookends! One camera was passed on from my grandmother and the other,
scored at an antique store.
My small
kitchen table worn in red incorporates a new color into the area without
clashing with nearby pieces. The $8 chairs that accompany it were a steal at a
local flea market.
As you can
see, I love mixing old with new. The rustic charm of this aged army trunk mixed
with the charcoal-gray, velvet couch, adds a bit of whimsy and achieves that
“goes together without trying” look. If you learn anything about me through my
posts, you’ll gather I’m one to mix and match colors, materials, patterns and textures because “matchy-matchy”
is too put together for my liking. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that each
and every item I add to my home should be special and tell a story.
$20 record
player used as the first piece guests see when they arrive and to store various
knick-knacks and collectibles
$15 record player with “paperclip” legs serves as the perfect side table in my living room
I’m always
on the lookout for unique, antique pieces to add to my growing collection.
There is just something about scouring shops to find that one-of-a-kind piece
because you know no one else has it. Someone else may have abandoned it, but I’ll
gladly welcome it into my home, just as I have with you.
Such unique pieces - I love it!
